Israeli Day Camp in New York

Located in the 75-acre Staten Island Greenbelt, Kimama 14Y Day Camp offers anunforgettable camp experience for children ages 5-13. With Hebrew-speaking shilichim from Israel, campers at Kimama 14Y become fully immersed in Israeli culture, and community. Kimama 14Y offers programming for campers ages 5-13, as well as a training program for ages 14-16. Read more about our programs and activities below!

 

Preparations for opening camp under COVID regulations

The health and safety of our campers, their families, and our staff is
our number one priority at Kimama 14Y. We are working with the American Camp Association, Center for Disease Control, New York Department of Health, and New York State to create and implement health and safety guidelines for 2021.

Program & Activities

Kimama 14Y programming fosters new friendships and relationships, helping campers develop independence and strengthen self-confidence through face-to-face communication (phones are not allowed!).  

Kimama 14Y offers challenging activities to campers from the moment they step off the bus onto the campgrounds. Infused with Israeli and educational content, campers enjoy various activities on-site including swimming, boating, archery, art, hiking, and athletic programming like soccer, basketball, baseball, GaGa – and more! Enrichment activities conducted in Hebrew include music, theater, dance, Israeli culture, and additional activities to strengthen Israeli identity.

Swimming

Kimama 14Y’s swim program follows the American Red Cross Swim Academy for instructional swim, focusing on water safety as well as skills. Depending on swim level, campers can swim in one of our three pools for instructional swim as well as free swim. Free swim gives campers the opportunity to practice their skills while also swim with their friends.  

All pools are staffed with American Red Cross certified water safety instructors and lifeguards. Swim ratios for instructional groups are 10:1 or less, depending on swim group and level. Kimama 14Y provides towels for every swim period – so there’s no need to pack towels!

Food and Nutrition

All food served at camp is kosher and meets all required health standards. The camp’s menu balances campers’ desires for favorite dishes with parents’ reasonable nutritional expectations.  In other words: the menu is fun and healthy. Every day at camp, campers receive a mid-morning snack at 10:00 a.m. which includes fruits or dried snacks, and a hot, kosher lunch at 1:00 p.m. The counselor team constantly supervises the nutrition of the children throughout the camp session, and if any child experiences a personal problem, whether of a medical nature or otherwise, we understand how to offer the ideal response.  Please advise us in advance of any such situation in order that we can make arrangements in advance.

Getting to Camp

Transportation is provided from bus stops throughout lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, with pickup as early as 8am and drop-off as late as 5pm. All buses are air-conditioned and staffed with a minimum of 3 staff members who facilitate games and songs throughout each bus ride.

Health

There is an on-site medical center which are fully equipped and staffed by a certified medical team who are prepared to respond to any medical need. We take every precaution when it comes to adequate hydration, preventing excess exposure to the sun and to hygiene. Numerous drinking fountains with cold water are located around camp.

Security & Safety 

Our campgrounds are supervised by a team of professional security guards, who monitor the entry and exit points. No visitors are allowed on the private grounds without advanced notice and approval.  

All staff are trained in clear, detailed security procedures and appropriate execution of these procedures prior to the start of camp. Staff also lead campers in safety drills at the start of each session, in compliance with Department of Health regulations.
