Why should I choose Camp Kimama?
There are plenty of reasons to make this choice! Camp Kimama provides a great opportunity to build close international friendships with Jewish teens from all over the world and Israel in a beautiful, warm, friendly, protected environment. At camp kimama the children always come first!

Who are the staff? Are they “checked out?”
The staff at Camp Kimama is one of the primary reasons children return year after year. Our staff members are 21-30 years old and are experienced counselors and educators, many of whom have worked in summer camps in the U.S. and Canada as well as “Israeli shlichim,” who are hired after an intense screening process.

How Jewish is Camp Kimama?
Kimama was created to encourage international Jewish connections where campers come from different Jewish cultural backgrounds. Judaism is instinctively infused into our programs and activities. For example, our community service and leadership programs involve activities based on the Jewish ethic of “Tikkun Olam: (fixing the world) and leadership simulation games are based on stories from the bible as well as Jewish and Israeli history.
The kitchen in Kimama is completely kosher and is supervised by the Israeli Rabanut.
Before every meal we say the “Hamotzi Lehem” blessing and after every meal we say the “Birkat Hamazon” blessing. We celebrate Shabbat services, yet we do use electricity and speakers, and we celebrate Havdallah too. Kimama is not a religious camp, yet we allow each of our campers to practice their faith as they wish, making Kimama so special for each camper.

Are there different activities for each age group?
Yes. Our program is designed so that all campers experience most of the activities we offer such as sailing, kayaking, speed boating, martial arts, theater, music, dance, soccer, basketball, arts & crafts, nature crafts and more. All campers can participate in leading our kabalat shabbat. As campers grow and continue to return to kimama, they get to participate in activities created for their age group, which they did not take part in before. The educational topics we deal with are different for each age group as well.

My kids do not speak Hebrew, will they get along at Kimama?
Yes, easily! Our camps are international and are run entirely in English and Hebrew. By the end of the summer every camper speaks or understands a little bit of both…

Is Camp Kimama certified by the Ministry of Education & Sports?
Yes! Camp Kimama is certified by the Ministry of Education & Sports in Israel. We are routinely inspected by the national supervisor for safety and security, who reviews our compliance with over 500 procedures and regulations of the state of Israel.

Contact information during camp

Keep in touch with campers during camp
Camp Kimama promotes interpersonal relationships, independence, personal empowerment and leadership. We believe that in order to create cross-continents friendships we have to create a unique environment. Nowadays, children are spending a lot of time with cellular devices, computers, Facebook, apps and other social media. It is often isolating them from the environment. We believe that the summer without this technology, can create a special and unique experience. Therefore, the use of mobile devices / PCs / tablets, etc. at Camp Kimama is not allowed. Devices that are brought to camp will be kept securely in camp office. Therefore, it is recommended to bring a camera and music separately. For the success of the entire camp, we ask you to respect our rules.

Each of Kimama’s camps have a fully working office throughout the summer. Parents are welcome to contact their campers camp office for any information or queries they have. We allow campers to contact home once during camp, at the end of the first week. Of course, if there it is an emergency – we will

How can I see photos, images and get updates of what’s happening at camp?

At Kimama we invite you to be a part of your kid's experience. At the end of each day we post photos and links of what each tribe experienced throughout that day. Our photographers take hundreds of photos and videos throughout the day so that you can be a part of everything they experienced.

During camp, parents (and other family members, too) are welcome to send E-mails to the camp office’s E-mail address, you can send as many as you want! You can send pictures of the family or the dog, letters from grandparents, friends, stories and anything to make your camper happy. We can assure you that they will be happy and excited. How will I know if my son/daughter are ok?
Please feel free to call the camp office and ask about your child. The office will record your questions (Who is his best friend in camp? What workshop he likes the most? Did he take medicine yesterday?) and send it to your child’s counselor and unit heads. They will speak with your child, ask him, and the office will contact you back. We promise to call you back.
